Radio-Free-Radnorshire

This page is what you might call aspirational; or a reminder to myself of what I’d like to do. And perhaps a shout out to a young person, who can help.
The idea is to set up a streaming radio station via the interweb, one which has live presenters, viz. me and my chum Mark Williams and also plenty of music.

Mark was the music editor for the International Times in the late sixties, and press officer at Stiff in its glory years. He was even the compere on the second Stiffs tour.

We aim to ‘webcast’ on Sunday evenings, because that always seems to me a deadish night for radio, although we’d finish by 11 so that listeners can tune into the sole Sunday night highlight on broadcast radio, namely David Jacobs show on Radio Two.

We’ve got some top guests lined up, and the music will be, I think the term is ‘eclectic’ (Mark is, for example, a Spooky Tooth nut).

The snag is that Mark and I have been unable to work out the technical requirements. You need several bits of software to allow the streaming of music, and several more to allow you to mix in speech, and, er…. well it all looks a bit daunting. So if anyone can help, that would be great.

Radio Free Radnorshire! Not with a bang, but a whimper!

However, there is a feed down the left hand side of the site which shows what I am listening to on Spotify as you read. That’s right. It’s live, and the nearest thing I’ve done so far to setting up a streaming radio station. Please have a look – run thy mouse over a title to see what it is; clicking on a title will take you through to LastFM, who host the Spotify widget. If you haven’t tried Spotify yet, you must still have a life. I recommend it highly. Spotify that is, rather than life.

And now our friends at BroadSheep TV have beaten us to the punch by starting Radnorshire’s very own music TV channel; a must see, in my view.
